SUMMARY
The Graphic Design & Social Media Coordinator brings United Way's mission to life through compelling visuals and an engaged digital presence. This entry-level role is responsible for designing marketing and campaign materials while managing day-to-day social media content and community engagement. The ideal candidate is a creative self-starter who is comfortable juggling design projects and content calendars in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Design and maintain print and digital materials including but not limited to flyers, brochures, infographics, pledge forms, event signage, email marketing design, web graphics, and annual report
- Create branded templates and collateral for workplace campaigns, donor engagement, and community partner events
- Ensure visual consistency with United Way brand standards and guidelines across all materials
- Collaborate with content manager to create and schedule engaging content: static graphics, and short-form video/reels and stories across platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn)
- Help maintain a consistent posting calendar and voice aligned with organizational priorities and campaign timelines
- Collect and share impact stories from community partners, volunteers, and program participants on company website
- Track engagement metrics and report insights on what's working to the Content Manager to help refine strategy
- Monitor and respond to comments/messages on social media, helping build community engagement
- Collaborate with the marketing/communications team and program staff to source content and coordinate timelines
- Assist with photography/video capture at events as needed
- Other duties as assigned
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Understanding of design principles, color theory, and brand strategy as it relates to marketing communications
- Good sense of typography, color theory, and information design layout
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task, and manage competing priorities and deadlines
- Must have excellent communication and organizational skills
- Proficiency using Adobe Creative Suite and Canva
- Proficiency with major social media platforms and basic analytics/insights tools
- Collaboration amongst other departments
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Marketing, Communications, or related field — or equivalent experience/portfolio
- 0-2 years of relevant experience
REPORTS TO: Sr. Director of Marketing and Communications
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None
TRAVEL: Rare, local travel may be required
FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt
SALARY RANGE: $25.64 to $28.21 an hour
