Jeffco Public Schools is hiring for TWO Claims Adjuster positions for the self-administered program within Risk Management:

\n

Workers’ Compensation Adjuster to handle compensability determinations, medical management, lost-time benefits, and litigation coordination.

\n

Property & Casualty Adjuster to manage a diverse caseload of general liability, bodily injury, auto liability, and property damage claims, with primary emphasis on liability and auto exposures.

\n


\n

RESPONSIBILITIES FOR BOTH ADJUSTER POSITIONS

\n

    \n
  • Investigate claims, gather facts, interview involved parties, and evaluate claim exposure.
  • \n

  • Ensure appropriate reserves are set timely. Review reserve recommendations with supervisor when exceeding authority limit.
  • \n

  • Document claim status, progress notes, and action plans timely.
  • \n

  • Communicate regularly with internal stakeholders regarding claim status, strategy, and anticipated outcomes.
  • \n

  • Evaluate claims for settlement opportunities and assist in achieving timely, cost-effective resolutions.
  • \n

  • Evaluate need for and assign social media checks, physical surveillance, SIU involvement, etc.
  • \n

  • Assess claims for need of defense counsel involvement. Manage and provide strategic guidance to defense counsel.
  • \n

\n

WORKERS’ COMPENSATION ADJUSTER

\n

    \n
  • Investigate workplace injuries to determine compensability under Colorado Workers’ Compensation Act regulations.
  • \n

  • Coordinate medical treatment, independent medical exams (IMEs), and related claim services.
  • \n

  • Calculate average weekly wages and administer indemnity benefits.
  • \n

  • Complete required Division of Workers’ Compensation (DOWC) filings and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • \n

  • Support injured employees, supervisors, HR partners, payroll, and leave administration throughout the claim process.
  • \n

\n

PROPERTY & CASUALTY ADJUSTER

\n

    \n
  • Investigate and manage general liability, bodily injury, auto liability, auto physical damage, and property damage claims, including attorney-represented claims.
  • \n

  • Evaluate liability, damages, claim exposure, and reserve adequacy.
  • \n

  • Negotiate settlements with claimants, attorneys, and insurance carriers.
  • \n

  • Coordinate facility and vehicle damage repairs and monitor recovery efforts.
  • \n

  • Pursue subrogation, restitution, and recovery opportunities.
  • \n

\n


\n

REQUIREMENTS

\n

Three years of experience in workers comp, general liability, and/or auto claims handling. Two years of experience working with public entities preferred for property & casualty role.

\n


\n

EDUCATION AND TRAINING

\n

High School degree required. Post-secondary insurance related courses or an Associate's Degree or higher preferred.

\n


\n

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, OR REGISTRATIONS

\n

None required. ARM (Associate in Risk Management), ARM-P (Associate in Risk Management for Public Entities) preferred.
