The Community Liaison acts as liaison between the Visiting Nurses Association (VNA) and the community regarding community and patient/client needs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Development and promotion of Home Health and Hospice programs and services, while maintaining the standards of practice consistent with quality health care and maximizing human, financial and equipment resources.
  • Provides counsel to the agency regarding the needs of the community; program development including personnel needs and financial needs.
  • Collaboratively develops and maintains policies specific to new programs.
  • Demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of, and ensures compliance with, all local, state and federal laws relating to the marketing of Home Health and Hospice.
  • Assists in direction of programs through collaboration with, and delegation of responsibility to, administrative and supervisory personnel.
  • Partners with the Interdisciplinary Group/Team to support safe and effective patient/family care.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships and promote VNA to referral sources, physician practices, hospitals, potential patients, civic groups, community businesses and service organizations, etc.
  • Represent VNA at community activities and events such as; health and vendor fairs, open houses, ribbon cuttings, etc., to promote agency initiatives.
  • Carries out other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduation from high school or completion of GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree with minimum of one year experience in marketing OR minimum of three years' experience working in the areas of development and resource development, event management, marketing and public relations, preferably in health care or not for profit.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Basic level knowledge of EMR (electronic medical records), Microsoft operating system and Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Publisher and/or Adobe InDesign programs and Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Experience with production and editing of media related material.

Visiting Nurses requires a criminal background check and motor vehicle (MVR) check for all employees once a conditional offer of employment has been extended by the hiring manager.
