Job Description

Grocery Store Director - Fresh-Focused, Family-Owned Chicagoland Grocer

If you have run a full grocery store and are tired of being a store number on a corporate spreadsheet, keep reading.

A small, family-run Chicagoland grocer is hiring Store Directors and Assistant Store Directors. This is not a big chain. The family still owns and runs the company, ownership walks the floor, and the people who run the stores know the owners by name. The stores are fresh-heavy: bakery, deli, meat, produce, and prepared foods are the heart of the business, not an afterthought.

What you will own

  • The whole store. Every department, the front end, staffing, scheduling, and ordering.
  • Fresh. In-stock, clean, shoppable departments with real perishable discipline and low shrink.
  • The numbers. Sales, margin, labor, and store-level P&L.
  • Your team. Hire, coach, and develop department leaders, and build a bench the company can promote from.
  • The customer. A neighborhood store where regulars know your name.

What they are looking for

  • You have run an entire grocery store as Store Director, Store Manager, or General Manager, or as an Assistant Store Director ready for the next step
  • Grocery background, whether at a large chain or an independent. Many of their best people came from the big chains and wanted something more personal.
  • Fresh and perishable-heavy, multi-department experience
  • Store-level financial performance, inventory and shrink control, and labor management
  • Chicagoland local. These are neighborhood stores and the client hires close to home.
  • Italian or specialty grocery exposure is a plus, not a requirement

What you get

  • Store Director: $100K-$110K base. Assistant Store Director: $80K-$90K base.
  • Full benefits package
  • A family company that hires for work ethic, family values, and a numbers mindset, and promotes from within
  • Multiple openings across their Chicagoland stores, so a strong operator has options
  • A straightforward process: phone interview, store interview, then a conversation with ownership

If you take pride in a clean, fresh, well-run store and want to work for owners who notice, we would like to talk.
