The Marketing & Events Intern will support marketing, donor relations, and event coordination for a fundraising event. This role offers hands-on experience in nonprofit marketing, donor relations, event planning and community engagement.
Duties/Responsibilities
Marketing & Communications
- Assist with developing and scheduling content for social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube and ViewSpark..
- Support the development and execution of marketing campaigns to increase awareness, engagement, and community participation.
- Draft and edit social media posts, e-newsletters, website content, and promotional materials.
- Help collect stories, photos, testimonials, and other content that demonstrate the organization's impact.
- Monitor social media engagement and assist with tracking basic marketing metrics.
Donor Relations
- Make phone calls and send letters to invite donors to the event.
- Assist with post-event follow-up, including thank-you communications, surveys, and reporting.
Events
- Assist with planning, promoting, and executing a fundraising event.
- Support event logistics, including invitations, registration, supplies, signage, schedules, and day-of coordination.
- Communicate with vendors, community partners, volunteers, and attendees as needed.
- Capture photos, videos, and social media content during events when appropriate.
Administrative & Team Support
- Maintain organized marketing and event files, calendars, and project timelines.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute creative ideas for increasing community awareness and engagement.
- Support other communications, outreach, and special projects as assigned.

- Have a desire to serve the Lord through widely varied responsibilities to advance ministry to those currently homeless, and the urban poor of Kansas City, with a compassionate heart.
- Agree to City Union Mission's Statement of Ministry:
- Be a genuine believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, as expressed by personal testimony and conduct.
- Be a member in good standing of a recognized protestant, evangelical church for one year or more.
- Have a genuine concern for the ministry of City Union Mission.
- Agree to abstain from alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs, and tobacco while employed by City Union Mission.
- Have a lifestyle that is free of sexual sin as clearly defined in the Bible.
