Position Overview
Gold Coast Beauty Spa by Shanzo is seeking licensed, business-minded Hair Stylists/Cosmetologists who want to grow an independent practice in a professional Gold Coast salon environment. We are looking for stylists who take pride in their craft, deliver an excellent client experience, and are motivated to build repeat business through rebooking, referrals, personal promotion, and strong client relationships.
This opportunity is well suited for an established stylist or a motivated professional who is prepared to actively develop and maintain a clientele. Existing clientele with social media following is welcomed but not required. Gold Coast Beauty Spa may also provide access to salon-generated client opportunities.
Compensation and Opportunity
- 50/50 split on eligible hair-service revenue
- Stylists retain their tips
- Estimated average earnings of approximately $30 per completed service hour or $1,200 per week, depending on completed service volume and clientele
- No cap on commission earnings
- Booking and payment processing through Clover

What You Will Do
- Provide professional hair services based on your experience, license, and demonstrated proficiency
- Conduct thoughtful client consultations and recommend services that align with each client's hair goals and needs
- Deliver a welcoming, consistent, and high-quality client experience
- Build and maintain your clientele through rebooking, referrals, client outreach, networking, social media, and other promotional efforts
- Maintain accurate appointments and client information through Clover
- Maintain a clean, sanitized, and organized service area
- Follow all Illinois licensing, sanitation, infection-control, and safety requirements
- Communicate professionally with clients and protect the reputation of your independent business and the salon
Services May Include
- Haircuts and trims
- Blowouts, silk presses, and thermal styling
- Shampoo, conditioning, and hair treatments
- Single-process color, highlights, balayage, and corrective color
- Natural hair styling and protective styles
- Relaxers, smoothing services, or texture services
- Formal, bridal, or special-event styling
- Hair extensions, based on demonstrated training and proficiency
Qualifications
- Active Illinois Cosmetology License
- Strong technical ability in one or more hair-service categories
- Professional portfolio or social media page demonstrating your work
- Knowledge of proper sanitation, product handling, and infection-control practices
- Strong consultation, client-service, and communication skills
- Ability to independently promote services and build, manage, and retain clientele
- Professionalism, reliability, attention to detail, and a business-owner mindset
Independent Contractor Status
The selected stylist will provide services as a 1099 independent contractor and will not be an employee of Gold Coast Beauty Spa by Shanzo. Independent contractors are responsible for their own federal, state, and local taxes, including self-employment taxes, and are not eligible for employee benefits. Earnings are commission-based, are not guaranteed, and will vary based on completed service revenue and individual business activity.
