In the ever-changing arena of policy, politics and communications, Pythia Public Affairs is looking for a communications expert with one to two years of experience to join our growing team as a full-time associate.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing firm and get firsthand experience working on some of the most compelling issues and campaigns in the New York political landscape, including housing, climate change, mental health, democracy, and more. You will implement communications programs on behalf of a variety of accounts, executing strategy to move our campaigns forward. Our work spans earned, owned, social, and paid media — supported by a deep understanding of the policy and political landscapes.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR: \n

- Someone who enjoys writing and research. An associate will spend a majority of their time researching various policy issues for clients, and use their findings to write press releases, opinion pieces, statements, talking points and other written materials as needed.
- Someone who can persuade. An associate will be expected to regularly speak with the press, develop relationships with reporters, and be a resource to them so your issue is seen and understood.
- Someone who keeps up with the news. An associate is expected to read breaking news and keep clients abreast of reporting that pertains to issues they care about.
- Someone who thrives with multiple projects. At any time at Pythia, an associate may have up to six clients. They will need to be able to turn their attention from one issue to another quickly, while balancing the needs of each client.
- Someone who can learn quickly and wants to grow. An associate will work side-by-side with senior level team members at Pythia, participating in client calls and strategy sessions.
- Someone who works hard. We are a small team, which means we all wear different hats and support each other beyond our job titles.
- Someone who likes to get out from behind their computer. Associates will regularly need to attend and lead press events, video shoots, and other meetings across New York City. You’ll also travel to Albany and areas outside the city periodically.
- 1-2 years of experience working in government, communications (either in-house or at a firm) or media.

WORKING AT PYTHIA PUBLIC
\n

- We have a hybrid work environment, requiring two days in our DUMBO office, and three remote. Associates will also be expected to regularly travel within New York City and to Albany on a periodic basis for events and in-person meetings with clients.
- We offer a generous benefits package including medical care, dental, and vision coverage as well as a 401K and 20 days of paid vacation, a week off between Christmas and New Years, and sick and bereavement leave.
- Salary range (commensurate with experience and skills): $60,000 to $70,000, plus the chance for an annual bonus.
