Job Description

Business Development Representative\n

\n

PuroClean | Full-Time

\n

\n

PuroClean is growing, and we’re looking for a Business Development Representative who knows how to turn relationships into long-term business.

\n

\n

This is not a role for someone who wants to sit behind a desk, send mass emails, or simply attend networking events. We are looking for someone who is organized, strategic, persistent, comfortable walking through doors, and disciplined enough to follow a relationship from the first introduction all the way to becoming a producing referral partner.

\n

\n

We provide emergency property restoration services for water, fire, mold, biohazard, and other property losses. Our Business Development team builds relationships with property managers, facility managers, commercial organizations, insurance professionals, and other strategic partners.

\n

What You'll Do\n

\n

Build Relationships

\n

    \n
  • Develop new referral relationships within assigned verticals and target accounts.
  • \n

  • Conduct consistent face-to-face prospecting, including initial visits, follow-up visits, presentations, lunches, discovery meetings, and site assessments.
  • \n

  • Learn how each prospect operates, what problems they face, who makes decisions, how emergencies are handled, and what PuroClean must do to earn their business.
  • \n

  • Progress relationships from initial contact to qualified opportunity, active referral source, and ultimately a strategic account.
  • \n

  • Maintain consistent follow-up—not just when you need business.
  • \n

\n

\n

Document Everything

\n

Our CRM is a critical part of the job. Every meaningful interaction, meeting, opportunity, follow-up, and next step must be documented.

\n

\n

You will be expected to:

\n

    \n
  • Maintain accurate and current CRM records.
  • \n

  • Document meaningful conversations and relationship intelligence.
  • \n

  • Maintain clear next actions for active prospects.
  • \n

  • Track prospects through defined relationship-development stages.
  • \n

  • Complete follow-ups consistently and on time.
  • \n

\n

\n

If the relationship exists only in your phone or your memory, the company doesn't truly have the relationship.

\n

\n

Stay Connected to the Jobs You Generate

\n

You do not manage production. Our Operations team does.

\n

\n

However, you remain connected to jobs generated through your relationships. You will communicate with the Lead responsible for the project and/or participate in WIP communication so you understand what is happening and can protect the customer and referral relationship.

\n

\n

During the initial development of an account, you should expect to attend jobs generated by that relationship.

\n

\n

As the relationship matures, attendance on smaller losses may decrease.

\n

For large or significant losses, you are expected to be there—every time. You should be one of the first people representing PuroClean on site and work alongside Operations to help us earn and close the opportunity.

\n

\n

Become Visible in Your Market

\n

    \n
  • Actively participate in at least two relevant professional or industry organizations, such as BOMA, apartment associations, engineering organizations, or organizations relevant to your assigned vertical.
  • \n

  • Attend a minimum of two networking events per week.
  • \n

  • Don't simply pay membership dues. Participate, build relationships, volunteer, and work toward leadership and ultimately board-level involvement.
  • \n

  • Connect meaningful new contacts with your professional LinkedIn network and PuroClean's LinkedIn presence.
  • \n

  • Engage consistently with customers' and prospects' content with thoughtful, relevant comments.
  • \n

\n

\n

Build Your Professional Presence

\n

Each BDR is expected to create two valuable, educational pieces of content per week relevant to their assigned vertical.

\n

\n

If you're developing the property-management market, for example, your content should be useful enough that a property manager reads it and learns something.

\n

\n

Content is submitted to our Social Media team for review and posting through PuroClean's channels, then amplified through your professional network.

\n

Activity Expectations\n

\n

During the first six months especially, this position requires significant face-to-face activity. Expectations include approximately two discovery meetings per week, progressing toward approximately two site assessments/pre-loss planning opportunities per week, consistent prospect visits and follow-ups, and two networking events each week.

\n

\n

We care about activity—but activity without progression isn't success.

\n

\n

We will measure whether relationships are moving forward, whether you're getting deeper into organizations, whether qualified opportunities are developing, and ultimately whether those relationships generate profitable work.

\n

Office & Team Expectations\n

This is a field-focused position, but it is not a disconnected remote sales position.

\n

Business Development Representatives are expected to work from the office some days per week, preferably beginning the day there when practical.

\n

\n

Why? Because great sales and great operations have to know each other.

\n

\n

We want our BDRs building relationships with our Leads and Production team, understanding active jobs, exchanging customer information, completing administrative work, and operating as part of one company—not as an independent sales department.

\n

What We're Looking For\n

\n

We're looking for someone who is:

\n

    \n
  • Highly organized and disciplined with follow-up.
  • \n

  • Comfortable initiating conversations and walking into new businesses.
  • \n

  • Naturally curious and capable of asking strong discovery questions.
  • \n

  • Strategic about developing accounts instead of chasing random contacts.
  • \n

  • Persistent without being transactional or pushy.
  • \n

  • Comfortable speaking with executives, property managers, facility managers, engineers, superintendents, insurance professionals, and field personnel.
  • \n

  • Strong at networking and developing genuine professional relationships.
  • \n

  • Comfortable using CRM technology and being held accountable for documentation.
  • \n

  • Able to communicate effectively with both customers and Operations.
  • \n

  • Willing to attend evening industry and networking events.
  • \n

  • Competitive and results-oriented while still being a team player.
  • \n

  • Driven by accountability rather than needing constant supervision.
  • \n

\n

\n

Restoration experience can be valuable, but relationship-development ability, organization, discipline, and the ability to learn are more important than simply having industry experience.

\n

How Success Will Be Measured\n

\n

Success won't be measured by how many business cards you collect.

\n

\n

We will look at relationship-building activity, CRM/documentation compliance, prospect progression, discovery meetings, site assessments, networking participation, qualified opportunities, new producing referral sources, jobs generated, revenue, account growth, and retention.

\n

\n

Our goal isn't to hire someone who stays busy.

\n

\n

Our goal is to hire someone who systematically builds relationships that become long-term business.

\n

About PuroClean\n

We are a family-owned, multi-location PuroClean organization built around Relentless Customer Service, accountability, teamwork, and doing the right thing for our customers.

\n

\n

Our Business Development team makes the promise. Our Operations team delivers it. Both teams have to work together for the relationship to last.
