Job Description

Director of Marketing
The Director of Marketing is a strategic, data-informed leader responsible for developing and executing integrated marketing and communications strategies that advance AIANYS’s mission, grow and engage membership, and strengthen the association’s brand. Working across departments, this role translates organizational priorities into compelling campaigns, measurable results, and consistent member experiences across digital, print, email, social media, and events. The ideal candidate is collaborative, adaptable, and comfortable using emerging technologies, including AI-powered tools—to improve efficiency, personalization, and impact while maintaining sound governance and accountability.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Marketing and Brand Leadership

· Develop and execute an annual integrated marketing plan aligned with the association’s strategic priorities, membership goals, programs, events, and advocacy initiatives.

· Lead the association’s brand strategy, ensuring clear, consistent messaging and positioning across digital, print, email, social media, and event channels.

· Design and optimize campaigns that support member recruitment, retention, engagement, and participation in professional development and member-value programs.

· Use audience segmentation, marketing automation, testing, and analytics to improve campaign relevance, efficiency, and performance.

· Evaluate emerging marketing technologies and lead the responsible adoption of AI-powered tools within the marketing function.

· Establish and maintain practical guidelines for the appropriate use of AI in content development, audience targeting, and related marketing activities.

Performance Analytics and Reporting

· Define, track, and report on key performance indicators, including membership growth, campaign return on investment, email performance, website traffic, conversions, and social media engagement.

· Translate data into clear insights and actionable recommendations for leadership and cross-functional teams.

· Build and maintain reliable marketing dashboards using platforms such as Google Analytics, PropFuel, or comparable platforms.

· Use performance findings to refine channel strategy, messaging, audience segments, and resource allocation.

Collaboration and Team Leadership

· Partner with Programs, Membership, Events, and Advocacy staff to align priorities, timelines, audiences, and messaging.

· Serve as a strategic advisor to the Executive Vice President and staff, helping shape plans that advance organizational goals.

· Coordinate marketing workflows and maintain clear accountability for deliverables, deadlines, and results.

· Manage relationships with external vendors, designers, agencies, and freelancers, including project scope, quality, timelines, and budgets.

Content and Communications

· Develop persuasive, audience-centered content for social media, websites, campaigns, and promotional materials.

· Write clear calls to action that motivate audiences to register for professional development programs and engage with other AIANYS member-value services.

· Manage an integrated content calendar that supports timely, coordinated, and consistent communications.

· Oversee the association’s social media presence and digital advertising campaigns, from planning and execution through optimization and reporting.

· Maintain editorial quality and brand consistency across all marketing and communications materials.

Qualifications

· Demonstrated experience developing and executing integrated marketing and communications strategies, preferably in an association, nonprofit, professional-services, or membership-based environment.

· Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to tailor messages and calls to action for varied audiences and channels.

· Proficiency with marketing analytics, email marketing, social media, digital advertising, content management, and marketing automation tools.

· Ability to interpret performance data, communicate findings clearly, and use insights to improve results.

· Experience managing multiple priorities, cross-functional projects, external partners, and deadlines in a dynamic environment.

· Sound judgment in the responsible use of AI and emerging technologies, including attention to accuracy, privacy, brand integrity, and human oversight.

· Collaborative, accountable, and solutions-oriented working style.
