A full-time Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) opportunity is available in Orlando, FL for the upcoming school year. Blazer Jobs is partnering with local school districts to hire a dedicated educator who is passionate about supporting students with visual impairments in achieving academic and functional success.
About the Role:
This position involves working with students who are blind or visually impaired, providing specialized instruction and support services that promote independence and access to the curriculum. The TVI will collaborate closely with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to ensure students receive appropriate accommodations and modifications.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Visual Impairments, Special Education, or a related field
- Active Florida teaching certification with endorsement in Visual Impairments
- Compliance with Florida Department of Education requirements
- Proficiency in Braille instruction (preferred or required depending on district)
- Previous school-based experience preferred
- Ability to pass background check and fingerprinting
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
Job Duties:
- Provide direct instruction in areas such as Braille, assistive technology, and independent living skills
- Conduct functional vision assessments and learning media assessments
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to adapt classroom materials
- Support students’ academic, social, and functional development
- Maintain accurate documentation and participate in required meetings
