Part-Time Fitness Manager / Lead Pilates InstructorBODYBAR Pilates South Lakeland | Lakeland, Florida

Love teaching fitness and helping others grow? Help launch BODYBAR South Lakeland as our founding Fitness Manager.

This part-time leadership role combines teaching, instructor development, and community involvement. You’ll work alongside ownership and the Studio Manager to build a welcoming studio and a confident instructor team.

A future 40-hour commitment is not required. We welcome experienced instructors, coaches, and fitness professionals looking for a leadership opportunity that can fit alongside other commitments.

Pay, Schedule, and Perks

  • Pay is $22-$25 per hour for management, planning, outreach, and other non-teaching work.

  • $45 per class for approved classes taught, with related preparation and duties addressed in the compensation agreement.

  • Approximately 15 to 20 hours weekly during presale, based on planned activities.

  • After opening, an agreed combination of management hours and scheduled classes.

  • Collaborative scheduling, including some early mornings, evenings, and weekends.

  • Paid required training time and ongoing professional development.

  • Complimentary classes, subject to availability and studio policy, plus retail discounts.

This is a part-time employee position. We do not currently offer employer-sponsored health insurance. Any future increase in hours would be discussed and agreed upon together.

What We’re Looking For

  • A dependable, approachable person who enjoys teaching, coaching, and helping others succeed.

  • Relevant experience in fitness instruction, personal training, Pilates, or a related coaching role.

  • Clear communication, strong follow-through, and the confidence to give constructive feedback.

  • A commitment to safe instruction and a welcoming experience for every member.

  • Interest in building relationships with instructors, members, and local businesses.

  • Availability for agreed teaching times, team activities, and community events.

Previous management experience is helpful, but a formal manager title is not required. We welcome instructors who are ready to take the next step into leadership.

Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)

  • Pilates or reformer teaching experience.

  • Experience mentoring, training, or coordinating a team.

  • A relevant fitness certification or education.

  • Boutique fitness studio or BODYBAR experience.

You do not need to meet every preferred qualification to apply. Tell us about your experience and what you would bring to our founding team.

Required BODYBAR training and teaching approval must be completed before teaching BODYBAR classes. CPR/AED certification is also required before you begin teaching.

What You’ll Do

  • Help recruit, onboard, and coach our founding instructor team.

  • Teach an agreed schedule of BODYBAR classes once approved.

  • Coordinate instructor schedules and substitute requests, with ownership support for unresolved coverage needs.

  • Observe classes and provide feedback that supports safe, consistent instruction.

  • Help organize community mat classes, local partnerships, and presale events.

  • Work with ownership and the Studio Manager to track instructor readiness and prepare for opening.

You’ll have a defined set of responsibilities and regular collaboration with ownership. The Studio Manager and sales team will lead general studio operations, sales follow-up, and social media management.

How the Flexibility Works

During presale, some planning and outreach may be completed remotely. Meetings, training, community events, and classes require in-person availability.

After opening, we’ll agree on recurring teaching and management time blocks based on studio needs and your availability. You will not be expected to remain available at all times. Any additional coverage will be discussed and coordinated with the team.

Opening dates and weekly needs may change with construction progress. We will communicate updates and plan schedules in advance wherever possible.
