Personal Assistant / Studio Assistant to Podcast Host & Legal Media Founder

\n

Part-Time | Astoria, Queens (LIC) | In Person

\n

Pay: $30/hour

\n

Hours: 15-20 with room to grow into fulltime for the right person

\n

\n

Help our growing legal media studio and keep it clean, organized and running smoothly. We just opened up a gorgeous recording studio engineered for top-quality video and audio recordings.

\n

I’m a court reporter, host of The Court Reporter Podcast, and owner of a small litigation support firm specializing in court reporting and legal transcript production. I am looking for a resourceful, organized assistant who enjoys taking initiative and getting things done. This role combines personal and business support with hands-on studio organization and management of everyday logistics.

\n

Purchases, Orders & Returns

\n

We frequently purchase items for my business, studio improvements, personal projects, and volunteer initiatives. During busy projects, this creates a high volume of orders across retailers. I need someone to manage those purchases and follow through on returns so items, deadlines, and refunds don’t get overlooked.

\n

    \n
  • Research products based on my specifications, style preferences, budget, and deadlines.
  • \n

  • Place orders within agreed purchasing guidelines.
  • \n

  • Track deliveries and resolve missing, damaged, or incorrect orders.
  • \n

  • Match packages and loose items to order records, follow keep-or-return notes, and check with me about undecided items.
  • \n

  • Handle return requests, packaging, labels, pickups, and drop-offs.
  • \n

  • Confirm refunds are received and follow up until resolved.
  • \n

  • Maintain a simple purchase and return tracker if that helps you... however you do it is yours to decide, but overall, I need someone I can truly trust to take over managing my purchase & returns accounts!
  • \n

\n

These are our own personal and business consumer purchases. This role does not involve running an online store, managing seller accounts, Shopify, or fulfilling customer orders.

\n

Studio Organization & Support

\n

We’ll begin with an organizing project to establish where everything belongs. Your ongoing responsibility will be to maintain that system and notice what needs attention.

\n

    \n
  • Walk through the studio when you arrive and handle routine needs without waiting for individual instructions.
  • \n

  • Keep the storage closet organized and put items back in their designated places.
  • \n

  • Break down empty shipping boxes once packaging is no longer needed for returns.
  • \n

  • Handle light upkeep, including sweeping, vacuuming, and wiping surfaces as needed.
  • \n

  • Manage snack and cleaning-supply inventories and replenish essentials within agreed budgets.
  • \n

  • Keep the studio welcoming and ready for guests and recording sessions.
  • \n

  • Coordinate deliveries, appointments, and service providers.
  • \n

  • Identify missing supplies or other studio needs and follow through on resolving them.
  • \n

\n

Personal Assistance

\n

    \n
  • Help with personal tasks including errands and miscellaneous things that come up and get in the way of me being able to run my business.
  • \n

\n

How We’ll Work

\n

You’ll have recurring responsibilities and a shared task list for new projects and needs. After training, you should know what to work on when you arrive unless I communicate different priorities.

\n

I’m looking for someone who takes ownership: notices what needs doing, makes sensible decisions within established guidelines, and follows tasks through to completion.

\n

Who Would Enjoy This Role

\n

You’re someone who:

\n

    \n
  • Is organized, dependable, and proactive... genuinely enjoys organizing and decluttering
  • \n

  • Enjoys creating order and maintaining practical systems.
  • \n

  • Pays attention to details, deadlines, and follow-up.
  • \n

  • Communicates clearly and can shift between recurring responsibilities and unexpected tasks.
  • \n

  • Is careful and discreet with personal information, business accounts, and confidential conversations.
  • \n

  • Would enjoy spending time in a creative studio and becoming a trusted part of its everyday operation.
  • \n

  • - Thrives when things are vague, ambiguous, challenging, not clearly explained, and you have to figure things out and solve problems before escalating anything
  • \n

  • - aspiring legal professional or new legal professional interested in litigation
  • \n

  • - media professional (broadcasting, journalism, podcasting, radio, video, sound engineering, etc.)
  • \n

\n

Location & Availability

\n

The studio is in Astoria, Queens. A short, convenient commute is preferred because this is an in-person role, and occasional additional visits may be needed.

\n

We’ll agree on regular part-time hours. Additional visits will be arranged based on needs and your availability.

\n

To Apply, please send a resume and cover letter.

\n

    \n
  • I’m looking for someone who brings care, sound judgment, and a strong sense of ownership to their work—and helps keep everyday life and studio operations moving smoothly.
