NOW HIRING: FIREPLACE SERVICE & INSTALLATION CONTRACTOR Ohio Gas Fireplace Repair & Installation — Greater Cleveland, Ohio Ohio Gas Fireplace Repair & Installation is seeking reliable, hardworking individuals to join our growing network of field contractors. We service, repair, maintain, and install gas fireplaces for residential and commercial customers throughout Greater Cleveland and surrounding communities. Training provided • Competitive pay per job • Daily payment This opportunity is suited to someone with mechanical skills, their own tools and vehicle, and the motivation to learn a specialized trade and grow with our business. Contractor Arrangement & Compensation - W-9 contract position: Selected applicants must complete a W-9 and sign a written contractor agreement. - Pay per job: Each assignment has an agreed rate based on its scope and complexity. - Daily payment: Completed jobs are paid daily after required job documentation and completion checks. - Higher per-job compensation: Our rates are structured to account for contractors providing their own vehicle, tools, and fuel. - No fuel reimbursement: Contractors are responsible for gasoline and vehicle operating expenses. - Larger projects priced separately: Rates for substantial installations or additional work will be agreed upon before work begins. - Earnings depend on available assignments, the jobs accepted and completed, and the agreed rates. Payment terms and responsibilities will be clearly outlined in the contractor agreement. Your Own Tools & Vehicle Are Required Applicants must have: - A reliable personal vehicle suitable for traveling between jobs and transporting tools and assigned materials. - A valid driver's license and current vehicle insurance. - Their own basic hand and power tools suitable for the work they accept. - A working smartphone for scheduling, communication, job photographs, and documentation. The required tool list and arrangements for any specialized testing equipment will be reviewed before assignments begin. Responsibilities Fireplace Service & Maintenance - Assist with inspecting and cleaning gas fireplaces, inserts, and gas log systems. - Clean fireboxes, glass, burners, and accessible components using appropriate methods. - Identify and report visible damage, corrosion, ignition problems, and service concerns. - Assist with approved component replacements within your training and assigned scope. - Learn standing-pilot, millivolt, and electronic ignition systems. - Document work performed and communicate unresolved issues. Installation & Project Work - Protect floors, furniture, and surrounding surfaces before starting. - Remove existing equipment carefully. - Organize tools, parts, and materials. - Assist with installing fireplace systems, inserts, doors, screens, and accessories. - Prepare and recoat fireboxes where appropriate. - Place logs, embers, and decorative media according to manufacturer instructions. - Complete cleanup and leave every work area orderly. Gas connections, electrical work, testing, and other technical tasks must be performed only within your training, authorization, and applicable requirements. Customer Service & Documentation - Arrive at accepted appointments on time and prepared. - Maintain a professional appearance and respectful attitude. - Treat customers' homes and belongings with care. - Communicate job progress, delays, and material needs. - Take required before-and-after photographs. - Submit accurate job notes and completion documentation. - Obtain authorization before performing additional work. Training Provided Previous fireplace experience is helpful but is not required for introductory assignments. We provide training covering: - Fireplace types and component identification. - Cleaning and maintenance procedures. - Safe work practices and property protection. - Installation assistance and manufacturer instructions. - Recognizing conditions requiring an experienced technician. - Customer communication and job documentation. Initial assignments will match your experience. Technical responsibilities can expand as you demonstrate skill, reliability, and safe workmanship. Qualifications We are looking for someone who: - Is dependable, honest, punctual, and motivated. - Has good mechanical aptitude. - Uses hand and power tools safely. - Follows safety instructions and pays attention to detail. - Communicates effectively with customers and the team. - Takes pride in completing quality work. - Has their own tools and reliable vehicle. - Can travel throughout the agreed service area. Experience in HVAC, plumbing, appliance repair, construction, remodeling, or property maintenance is a plus. Physical Demands Work may involve standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, carrying tools, and moving equipment with appropriate assistance. Assignments may take place in homes, basements, utility areas, and outdoor locations, with exposure to dust and soot.
